A Phased Replacement of an Occupied Campus:
North Dade Middle School was a multi-phased replacement and renovation project on an occupied middle school and elementary school dual campus. The project included a new two-story classroom building and a new administration building for North Dade Middle School, a new two-story classroom building for North Dade Center for Modern Languages and a new cafeteria building with “Food Shelter” which will be used by both the elementary and middle schools. New construction also included a new PE shelter and chiller plant. Site work included a new entry plaza, parent and bus drop-off areas, covered walkways, parking lot expansion, new playground and hard courts for the elementary school. The buildings will be designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Schools rating system.
“Both the North Dade Middle Center for Modern Languages and the Miami Central High
School projects presented unique challenges of historically significant campuses and
construction of a fully operational high school while adhering to a tight schedule.
Coastal delivered these complicated projects and they are both once again a source of
great community pride.”
